WorldWideWeb explores the “Rotvälta” as a visual symbol. “Rotvälta” is the swedish word for windthrown trees, where parts of the rootsystem are torn up and exposed in the fall, making visible the mycorrhiza that trees use to communicate with each other. Fine, white threads of mycelium that bore into tree roots creating a network with the same infrastructure as the internet, operating by electrical impulses just like our neural pathways. By displaying its underside, it shows us that there are many worlds in addition to the ones we consciously participate in. So much exists without a human witness and the Rotvälta is a confrontation that we are just touching the surface.
