About

Hugo Chang Coffey (b. 2001) is a Swedish/Irish-Korean artist whose practice revolve around otherness, transformation, and the fractured terrain of belonging. Working across a variety of medias, he creates hybrid landscapes, rich with symbolism and mythologies. Coffey’s work often reflects on how the continuous reshaping of history is felt on the present body. Rather than filling in the gaps where certain histories have been erased, his work incorporates the fragmented and embraces the hidden, the unrecorded, the secret and enchanted.
